3C589 - Windows NT 3.51 - "Can't find the controller"

Problem: Unable to configure 3C589 to work in a Compaq Elite with Windows NT 3.51. Message returns: "Can't find the controller."

Solution: Configure Windows NT 3.51 for the same adapter settings as the card, not what NT shows originally. Configure the bus type to PCMCIA. If the driver is installed on an IBM Thinkpad 755C, configure the adapter settings to match the card. The bus type defaults to ISA.
