3C589 - WinBook XP5 - Windows 95 - Exclamation mark in Device Manager by PCMCIA socket

Problem: WinBook reports an exclamation mark in the Device Manager by the PCMCIA socket and the 3C589
does not have a resource tab under the properties in the Device Manager for the 3C589 network adapter.

Solution: Preloaded on the WinBook for Card & Socket Services is a file called SSVADEM.VXD dated 10-11-95, file size of
20,788 bytes at 5:30 pm. If you are missing this file, contact the WinBook manufacturer. Copy the file to the Windows\System directory of Windows 95 and name it SOCKETSV.VXD. For example:

COPY SSVADEM.VXD \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SOCKETSV.VXD
