3C589 - OS/2 Warp
Problem: Loading the NetWare OS/2 Requestor for the 3C589B under OS/2 Warp, it reports an 'invalid node override' error and changes the MAC address from 0020AXXX to 0220AXXX.
Solution: Any time you change the Ethernet address of the adapter in the NET.CFG file, the node address comes up as 02xxxxxxxxxx when 3C589.COM loads, even if you specify 00xxxxxxxxxx. The "02" means this is a USER-DEFINED node address. The driver should load without error with the address showing 02xxxxxxxxxx.
Boot under DOS and load the ODI drivers to login to the NetWare server. Once you've verified connection, add the "Node Address 00xxxxxxxxxx" to the NET.CFG and reload the ODI driver. Notice it now shows 02xxxxxxxxxx. If it works under DOS, this same NET.CFG will work under OS/2.
