3C589 - AST Ascentia 900N - NetWare drivers won't load

Problem: On an Ascentia 900N with 3C589 installed in a docking station, the ODI driver won't initialize the card or connects to the NetWare server but won't send out packets.

Solution: The latest ODI driver fixes this issue. If you use the 3C589 in slot 1 (the top slot), use Card and Socket services because the VLSI chipset that controls the top slot is not Intel-compatible. The bottom VLSI controller is Intel-compatible, allowing you to use point enabler.

In order to load the ODI stack on this machine without incurring lock-up, you must have 3C589.COM dated 9-8-94 or later. This version of the driver will be recognized by Card and Socket Services. This applies to the Ascentia 900N 50, 66, & 75 MHz machines.
