3C589 - HP OmniBook 4000 - DOS\Windows

Problem: When using the 3C589 with the Omnibook 4000, the DOS ndis or odi drivers will hang or fail to load. When running the diagnostics, a warning appears that the keyword 'IOIS8' must be added to NET.CFG or PROTOCOL.INI.

Solution: When using the card in point enabler mode change the IO address to 200 with the configuration utility. For use with card services and with point enabler add the keyword 'IOIS8' to the NET.CFG or PROTOCOL.INI. For example:
