EtherLink III NetWare Requester install for OS/2

Installation of 3C5X9 in an OS/2 client environment with NetWare requesters for the: 3C509, 3C509B, 3C529, 3C579:

1. Install the OS/2 operating system on the machine.

2. Download the latest version of the NetWare Requesters from Novell from:

Novell's ftp site: ftp.novell.com
NetWire: On CompuServe, type: go Netwire

3. Acquire the latest version of the EtherDisk from 3Com:

BBS: (408) 980-8204
ftp: ftp.3com.com
CompuServe: go threecom
WWW: www.3com.com

4. Insert the first NetWare Requester disk in the floppy drive.
a. Go to the Drives Icon and bring up the drive for the NetWare Requester Install disk.
b. Bring up the installation bar and single click on installation.

5. Double-click on INSTALL.EXE.

6. Follow the on-line instructions on installing the NetWare Requester on Workstation.

7. Type in the target directory where the Requester files will be copied.
a. Choose the ODI Lan driver from the list .
b. Click on the "v" in the information bar. You will see the installation message to insert the diskette labeled WSDRV_1, or the driver containing the third party ODI driver.
c. Insert WSDRV_1.

8. Select the 3C5X9.SYS from the list of ODI drivers.

9. Complete the install for the Requester.

10. Before rebooting the machine, copy the latest 3C5X9.SYS from NETWARE\CLIENT sub- directory of the EtherDisk into the sub-directory where the NetWare Requester files are located.

11. Reboot.

This completes the installation of the 3C5X9. Software version tested: OS/2 Warp 3.0, NetWare DOS Requester v.2.11
