3C589C-Combo - WinBook FX - Windows 95 - Problems With COAX Networks

Problem: The user changes the advanced settings for the network adapter card in Network Configuration to a Connector Type of COAX. The card does not detect the network; however, the card will operate properly after changing the Connector Type setting if the TP connector is used.

Solution. Follow these steps to resolve the problem:

1. Download the latest Installation/Diagnostic program 3c589x.exe from the Shipping Adapter file area.
2. Boot to MS-DOS 6.x.
3. Set the transceiver type on the card EEPROM to COAX using the command line:

INSTALL CONFIGURE /TR:COAX
