Figure 3-13 SNMP Parameters Screen

This screen allows you to set the SNMP community strings and configure remote SNMP managers authorized to manage the unit.
Community strings act as a sort of password in SNMP. If the SNMP management software does not send the right community string to the AccessBuilder 7000, you cannot use the SNMP commands SET and GET.
Community strings set permissions for the following:
Read Only Using the community string defined to have read permissions only, enables the person using the SNMP manager to read a MIB table using the GET command but does not allow the alteration of the MIB table using the SET command.
Write Only Using the community string defined to have write permissions only, this enables the person using the SNMP manager to write to a MIB table using the SET command but does not allow the alteration of the MIB table using the GET command.
Read and Write Allows the use of both the SET and GET commands included in SNMP.
To set the community strings:
1 . Select one of the six different communities that can be defined pressing the [RETURN] until the cursor appears in the required field.
2 . Use the space bar to toggle the access options.
3 . Use [TAB] to move the cursor to the community field.
4 . Type in the new community string. Press [RETURN] again for the change is to take effect.
By default any SNMP manager can access the Management Controller and configure and manage the unit. You can configure up to six SNMP managers authorized to manage the unit.
Index Lists up to six SNMP managers.
Type Set to Valid to authorize the SNMP manager or to Invalid to prevent access by the selected SNMP Manager.
Client IP Address Enter the IP address of the authorized SNMP Manager.
