| Setting Router Options |
To access the Router options screen shown in Figure 2-34, enter CO RO PA at the main menu command prompt. |
| Figure 2-34 |
| The fields on this screen are: |
| IPX Routing Set this option to ENABLED if IPX routing is required or to DISABLED if it is not. |
![]() |
IPX routing is not available on the AccessBuilder Internet 400. |
| IPX Nearest Server If this field is set to INCLUSIVE, the unit responds to Get Nearest Server request with only the servers configured in the IPX Nearest Server table. You must have already configured an IPX Nearest Server before using this option. See "Novell IPX Nearest Server" for more information. |
| If this option is set to EXCLUSIVE, the unit does not respond with the address of any IPX server(s) it already knows about. |
| IP Routing Set this option to ENABLED if IP routing is required or to DISABLED if it is not. |
| IP Routing Protocol This field has four options: |
![]() |
RIP (Default) - This the standard RIP. It supports standard subnet masks for the address class only. |
![]() |
RIP (Fixed Mask) - Normally RIP updates do not have a subnet mask supplied with them. If this option is selected, the mask assumed is that configured for the port on which the update arrives. |
![]() |
RIP (Extended) - Examines the IP address and assumes any none 0 (zero) octet is part of the network address. For example an address of 10.1.0.1 assumes a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 and an address of 10.1.128.1 assumes a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. |
![]() |
RIP2 - Allows you to use variable length subnet masks. For example if your host address is 10.128.0.101 and a subnet mask of 255.128.0.0 is applied, the network address is [10.1] and the host portion of the address is [28.0.101]. |
| Both RIP (Extended) and RIP2 support variable length subnet masks. Select the routing protocol depending on the requirements of the routers in the wider network. |
| IP Learn RIPs If set to ENABLED, the unit automatically updates its routing table from the RIPs received. If set to DISABLED, you must configure static routes to other routers. |
| IP Advertise Routes This field has three options: |
![]() |
All - RIPs are transmitted on all interfaces. |
![]() |
None - RIPs are not transmitted. |
![]() |
LAN - RIPs are transmitted on the LAN interface only. |
