Menu Structure

The commands that you can use depend on the system that you have, your level of access, and the types of modules and other hardware options that are configured for your system. The following diagram shows the complete list of commands for all systems. See the checklist at the beginning of each command description in this chapter for whether your system supports the command.

bridge display

Generates a display that includes bridge statistics (such as topology change information) and configurations for the bridge and for Spanning Tree topology.

Valid Minimum Abbreviation

b d

Fields in the Bridge Display

Field

Description

addressCount

Number of addresses in the bridge address table.

addrTableSize

Maximum number of addresses that fit in the bridge address table.

addrThreshold

Reporting threshold for the total number of addresses known on this bridge. When this threshold is reached, the system generates the SNMP trap addressThresholdEvent. The range of valid values for setting this object is between 1 and the value reported by the addressTableSize attribute + 1.

agingTime

Time-out period in seconds (between 10 and 32267) for aging out dynamically learned forwarding information. The default value is 300 seconds (5 minutes).

bridgeFwdDelay

Forward delay value used when this bridge is the root bridge. This value sets the amount of time that a bridge spends in the "listening" and "learning" states. The default value is 15 seconds.

bridgeHelloTime

Hello time value, used when this bridge is the root bridge. It is the time that elapses between the configuration messages generated by a bridge that assumes itself to be the root. The default value is 2 seconds.

bridgeIdentifier

Bridge identification. It includes the bridge priority value and the MAC address of the lowest numbered port. Example: 8000 00803e003dc0.

bridgeMaxAge

Maximum age value, used when this bridge is the root bridge. This value determines when the stored configuration message information is too old and is discarded. The default value is 20 seconds.

designatedRoot

Root bridge identification. It includes the root bridge's priority value and the MAC address of the lowest numbered port on that bridge. Example: 8000 00803e001520.

forwardDelay

Time that a bridge spends in the "listening" and "learning" states.

helloTime

Time that elapses between configuration messages generated by a bridge that assumes itself to be the root.

holdTime

Minimum delay time between sending BPDUs (topology change Bridge Notification Protocol Data Units).

ipFragmentation
(3500 and 9000 Layer 3)

Configurable parameter that controls whether IP fragmentation is enabled or disabled.

ipxSnapTranslation
(3500 and 9000 Layer 3)

Configurable parameter that controls whether IPX snap translation is enabled or disabled.

maxAge

Maximum age value at which stored configuration message information is judged to be too old and is discarded. This value is determined by the root bridge.

peakAddrCount

Peak value of addressCount.

priority

Configurable value that is appended as the most significant portion of a bridge identifier.

rootCost

Cost of best path to the root from the root port of the bridge. One determining factor of cost is the speed of the network interface - the faster the speed, the smaller the cost.

rootPort

Port with the best path from the bridge to the root bridge.

stpGroupAddress

Address to which the bridge listens when receiving STP information.

stpState

Configurable parameter that provides the state of the bridge (that is, whether Spanning Tree is enabled or disabled for that bridge). The default value is disabled.

timeSinceLastTopologyChange

Time elapsed (in hours, minutes, and seconds) since STP last reconfigured the network topology.

topologyChangeCount

Number of times that STP has reconfigured the network topology.

topologyChangeFlag

Whether the bridge topology is currently changing (true) or not changing (false)

bridge ip fragmentation

For CoreBuilder 9000: Applies to Layer 3 switching modules only.

Determines whether FDDI and Ethernet stations that are connected to your system can communicate using IP even if the FDDI stations are transmitting packets that are typically too large to bridge.

bridge ipx SnapTranslation

For CoreBuilder 9000: Applies to Layer 3 switching modules only.

When IPX Snap Translation is enabled, translates any 802.3_RAW IPX packets being forwarded from Ethernet to FDDI to FDDI_SNAP. Likewise, it translates SNAP IPX packets that are forwarded from FDDI to Ethernet are translated to 802.3_RAW packets.
