RELEASE NOTES
Release 3.17
DNA3700-0AAA13
About this SW version 3.17
· Software version 3.17 is intended for use with the CELLplex 7000 (REV C) and CELLplex 7000HD (REV E) switch engine. SW version 3.17 replaces ver. 3.1 (CELLPLex 7000) and 3.15 (CELLPlex 7000HD).
· From now on there will be one SW version for the CELLplex 7000 and CELLplex 7000HD. The features that SW ver. 3.17 supports include those of software version 3.1 in use with the CELLplex 7000 and those of software version 3.15 in use with the CELLplex 7000HD version 3.15.
· New software features and features improvements that are supported in version 3.17 of CP7000 and CP7000HD are described in the accompanying NEW FEATURES document.
· Software ver. 3.17 on the FAST server is a compressed file. When uploading this SW from FAST be sure to follow the instructions in the Upgrade Installation Guide (DUA7000-0AAA3).
· All the features of SW ver. 3.1 and 3.15 that are supported in ver.3.17 are described in the Release notes for SW ver. 3.1 and 3.15, DNA3700-0AAA11/ DNA3700-0AAA12 and DFA7000-0AAA2/ DFA70HD-0AAA3.
NEW FEATURES in S/W Ver. 3.17
Fast Ethernet Card Support -- 7600 Card Support
1. S/W ver. 3.17 supports the 7600 Card functionality. This S/W version enables the user to work with the CELLplex/CELLplex HD with all the following cards: 4 ATM ports, 7200 Cards and 7600 Cards. Any combination is available and S/W ver. 3.17 supports them all.
2. The 7600 Card works only with Switch Card Rev. C. and up.
The only issue requiring consideration is the power consumption of the CELLplex. (Please refer to the tech note which explain the requirement and the power consumption for each card and for any combination of cards.)
7600 Card Limitation :
For now , S/W ver 3.17 does not support an option to work with the 7600 Cards in the CELLplex and Redundant Switch Engine. (This will be fixed in the coming S/W ver. 3.2). You may use the 7600 card with the CELLplex 7000HD switch engine without redundant switch.
CELLplex 7000/7000HD Software Bug Fixes
General
The following bugs of previous versions have been fixed in version 3.17.
Bug Description / Related Bug Release
1. CELLplex Reboot Under Link Failure - In versions 3.02 and 3.1, now fixed in 3.17, CELLplexes have been rebooting in an environment in which switches carry hundreds of connections (500 and greater) and one of the major ATM links through which the connections flow is cut. These phenomena have been observed after the link goes down and hundreds of simultaneous calls are sent in order to reconnect. CELLplexes in the network have been rebooting without apparent cause. This bug was fixed by controlling the signalling rate
2. 7200 Interface Card Reboot or Inactivity - There have been some instances of 7200 rebooting in release 3.1, and some bugs of inactivity at hot insertion in 3.02 as well as 3.1.
Both of these bugs have been fixed, adding more checks and tests into the internal management between the Switch module and the 7200 Card
3. Broadcast-Caused Reboot - In cases of load on the BUS specifically in cases of control direct traffic to the LES combined with BUS traffic, a fatal error occurs on the CELLplex that causes a reboot.
The problem has occurred in both the 3.02 and 3.1 versions.
The fixes involve the LES/BUS mechanism and LES/BUS HW control
4. CELLplex Configuration Loss - If a CELLplex receives a fatal error message, the error is written to the flash memory, thereby erasing the CELLplex configuration stored there. This problem exists in both versions 3.02 and 3.1.
Now fixed.
5. ATM layer statistics - ATM layer statistics on the NMS/LMA - ATMvLAN application measured errors. The problem exists in version 3.1.
· Upgrade instructions for 7X00 Cards Refer to 7X00 loading SW instruction documents
Redundant Switch/Hot Insertion for the CP7000 and the CP7000HD
· CP7000 redundant switch should be Rev. C with the new EPROM with Bootstrap version 3.3
· CP7000HD supports the new EPROM with the SW ver. 3.3.
