A network is a great tool for a small business.
You probably know all the things it can do to improve communication and efficiency. You may also know about the other side—the new security problems that come with linking your PCs together.

This course will help you put concerns about security into perspective. Certainly you should be concerned about security but not to the point that it keeps you from realizing the advantages of a network. For one thing, you probably have more protection at hand than you realize.

This course covers some issues related to network security and suggests ways to minimize the threats. It helps you:

  • Recognize security concerns within and external to the company.
  • Understand the need to develop a detailed security policy before setting up a security system.
  • Identify topics that should be covered in a security policy.
  • Identify security features that are built into the software and equipment for a typical LAN.
  • List several ways to grant or deny access permission using built-in features.
